Ingredients
- 2 pounds 95% extra-lean ground beef
- ½ green bell pepper, finely chopped
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 1 egg
- 1 cup rolled oats
- 1 cup ketchup, divided
- 1-½ teaspoons garlic powder
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar
How to Make It
- Preheat oven to 350°F. Coat a 9 × 5-inch loaf pan with cooking spray.
- In a large bowl, combine ground beef, green bell pepper, onion, egg, oats, ¾ cup ketchup, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Using your hands, gently mix just until combined. (Try not to over-handle mixture.) Place in prepared pan.
- Bake 1 hour. Brush with remaining ketchup, sprinkle with brown sugar, and bake 10 to 15 additional minutes, or until no pink remains. Drain any excess liquid, let cool 5 to 10 minutes, then cut into 8 slices and serve.
