Miso paste is a Japanese seasoning made from fermented soybeans. It is fantastic when combined with meats and vegetables. There are several varieties to choose from; white miso is the mildest in flavor. Miso contains a lot of salt, so be cautious when seasoning with additional salt.
Ingredients
How to Make It
- Mix the butter and miso paste together until completely combined. Cover and set aside.
- Season the flank steak with salt and pepper. Grill the flank steak on a gas or charcoal grill. Cook until the meat has reached 160°F or medium well-done with a slightly pink center. Remove the meat from the grill and cover with foil. Allow it to rest for 15 minutes.
- Place the zucchini in a glass bowl and add ¼ cup water. Cover the bowl with a plate and steam in a microwave for two to three minutes or until the zucchini is bright green and slightly softened. Drain excess water and toss the zucchini with the sesame oil.
- To serve, slice the steak across the grain into very thin slices. Divide steak and zucchini into four equal portions. Place steak on top of zucchini and top with one-quarter of the butter mixture (about 1½ tablespoons).
