For a quick and easy to make meal, serve this hamburger hash with cornbread.
Ingredients
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 large onion (peeled, chopped)
- 6 potatoes (peeled, chopped)
- ½ cup green pepper (chopped)
- ½ small head of cabbage (chopped)
- 1 (14½ ounce) can beef broth
- 1 (1 ounce) envelope onion soup mix
- 1 tsp cumin
- ½ tsp black pepper
- ½ tsp salt
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
- 2 tbsp butter
- Cornstarch (optional)
- Cornbread (to serve, optional)
How to Make It
- Add the beef, onion, potatoes, and peppers to a 10" skillet and cook until the meat is browned all over and no pink remains.
- Add the chopped cabbage.
- In a bowl, whisk the broth with the onion soup mix, cumin, black pepper, salt, garlic powder, and Worcestershire sauce, stir to combine and add the butter. Bring to boil before reducing to a simmer. Cover with a lid and continue cooking for 10 minutes.
- Remove the lid and allow to simmer for between 15-20 minutes until the potatoes are fork tender and the liquid in the pan has reduced. You may want to add a small amount of cornstarch at this stage, to thicken. Enjoy.
