There are many types of mackerel, and they range in size from very large to quite small. I used Boston mackerel, which is a medium-sized fish.
Ingredients
- 2 whole mackerels (6 ounces each), scaled, gutted, and cleaned
- ¾ teaspoon fine sea salt
- ½ teaspoon fresh ground black pepper
- 2 lemon or lime wedges
- ¼ cup Tartar Sauce, for serving
How to Make It
- Preheat a grill to medium heat.
- Make 3 deep cuts on each side of the fish. Season the fillets with the salt and pepper.
- Place the fish skin side down on the grill and grill for 15 minutes, then flip them over and grill for another 15 minutes. Remove from the grill. Squeeze lemon over each fish and serve with tartar sauce.
