This no-fuss treat comes together in minutes. The sauce, made of butter, apple juice, and a homemade caramel sauce, reduces while the apples bake, creating a velvety glaze. Make extra Caramel Sauce, and store it in the refrigerator to serve over pound cake or ice cream later in the week.
Ingredients
- 4 Granny Smith apples, peeled and cored
- 2⁄3 cup no-sugar-added apple juice
- 2 tablespoons butter, melted
- Caramel Sauce
How to Make It
- Preheat oven to 375°.
- Cut each apple horizontally into 5 slices. Reassemble each apple, and place in an 11 x 7–inch baking dish. Combine apple juice and melted butter; pour over apples. Bake, uncovered, at 375° for 45 minutes or until apples are tender, basting with juices every 15 minutes.
- Place an apple stack on each of 4 individual serving plates. Pour ¼ cup Caramel Sauce into center of each stack, allowing sauce to flow over sides. Serve immediately.
