Ingredients
Apple Layer
- 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
- 2 Granny Smith apples, peeled, cored, and diced
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- ¼ teaspoon nutmeg
- ¼ teaspoon allspice
- ¼ teaspoon cinnamon
Pudding Cake
- 4 cups warm water
- 1¼ cups all-purpose flour
- Pinch of salt
- 2¼ teaspoons baking powder
- 1 cup plain dry bread crumbs
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- ½ teaspoon nutmeg
- 1 stick unsalted butter
- ½ cup brown sugar
- 2 large eggs
- ¼ cup molasses
- ¼ cup applesauce
How to Make It

Apple Layer
- Press Sauté on your machine and add butter. Once butter has melted, add in apples and remaining ingredients. Stir frequently. Cook for approximately 5–6 minutes. Press Cancel.
- Spray mold with nonstick spray. Add apple topping to the bottom of the mold, and set to the side. Pudding Cake
- To your pot, add 4 cups of warm water and trivet. Press Sauté and wait for water to boil. Once boil has been reached, press Cancel.
- In a medium bowl, add flour, salt, baking powder, bread crumbs, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Mix with a whisk until ingredients are evenly distributed.
- In a large bowl, cream together butter and brown sugar. Once creamed, add in eggs, molasses, and applesauce. Mix well, but don’t overmix. Slowly add in your dry mixture to your wet. Folding works best. Once done, pour batter into mold over the apples.
- Cover mold with foil and crimp edges to remain sealed. Lock lid and close vent. Cook on High Manual Pressure for 45 minutes. Allow to NPR fully (approximately 20–25 minutes). Insert a dry toothpick to see if it’s done. If not, then cook for an additional 15–20 minutes and NPR. Allow to cool before serving.
