While not purely healthy, this creamy frosting is made from scratch, from ingredients we all recognize. It’s relatively low in sugar. And it’s used to frost a birthday cake, which is far from a daily indulgence!
Ingredients
How to Make It
- Combine the milk and flour in a small saucepan. Cook over medium heat for about 5 minutes, until the mixture forms a thick paste. Be careful not to burn. Refrigerate until cold.
- In a medium bowl, cream the remaining ingredients. A little at a time, add the cooled paste, then beat the frosting with an electric mixer for 10 minutes.
- Frosts one 9-by-13-inch sheet cake or two (9-inch) round layers.
