Osso buco is a very tasty meal, so it can be tempting to overeat! And if you eat too much protein, it will take you out of ketosis. To ensure that you do not overeat protein, I suggest that you serve this dish over Zoodles to soak up the delicious sauce and pair it with a tasty side salad with lots of keto dressing. As a bonus, enjoy the marrow from the shanks. This elegant yet simple recipe uses a bouquet garni. Don’t let those words cause you to skip this recipe. It refers to a packet of herbs and…

If a meal of roasted bone marrow sounds a little crazy to you, let me list the reasons it’s so good for you: It is one of the few natural sources of vitamin K2, which helps reverse artery calcification, reverse Alzheimer’s, and increase fertility, and which has anti-aging properties as well as many other healing properties. Marrow is one of the best, densest sources of fat-soluble vitamins. It is a great high-fat, moderate-protein source for a keto-adapted diet. And if the health reasons alone haven’t convinced you, the incredible taste and creamy texture of bone marrow will! You can enjoy…
I call these “umami burgers” because they are seasoned with a touch of fish sauce and topped with mushrooms—both wonderful sources of umami. Umami is the fifth taste, after sour, salty, bitter, and sweet. It is usually described as the “savory” taste. Umami’s amazing savory taste is produced by ribonucleotides, molecules that help boost flavor naturally in many foods, including beef broth and aged cheeses. These burgers are topped with bone marrow, providing that creamy mouthfeel that we crave without dairy. The bone marrow also packs a huge nutritional punch!
This meal is simplicity itself. The marinade is quick to prepare, and you can leave it to flavor the lamb for as much, or as little, time as you have.
These are good with rice or couscous, or even wrapped up with salad in a tortilla for a quick lunch.
My first go at this recipe did not include bacon (reflected in the photo). Then, when preparing these deviled eggs for a potluck gathering, I decided to add everyone’s favorite ingredient: bacon. They were a huge hit! If you are a vegetarian, you can certainly omit the bacon; if not, I highly suggest including it.
This recipe is a family classic! If you are always stressed out about making dinner, this is an awesome, simple go-to dish. I suggest doing some prep work the night before. I make cauliflower rice and store it in an airtight container in the refrigerator for easy additions to meals such as this one. I also recommend putting all the ingredients in the slow cooker insert the night before. In the morning, all you have to do is remember to take it out of the fridge and turn on the slow cooker. Dinner will be ready when you get home!
I love this recipe. I’m not a huge poultry fan, but even I will say that this dish is divine.
