Here in Apple Country, every family seems to have a cherished apple cake recipe. This moist, heart-healthy version is a fall favorite with my family.
Ingredients
How to Make It
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
- In a small bowl, mix together sugar, cinnamon, and ½ cup walnuts.
- Grease a 9-by-13-inch pan and fill with diced apples. Sprinkle apples with cinnamon mixture.
- In a bowl, stir together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
- In a larger bowl, combine the eggs, milk, butter, and oil. Add the flour mixture and combine until smooth.
- Pour the batter over apples, allowing time for it to settle between the apples. Sprinkle with remaining nuts.
- Bake for about 1 hour or until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Before serving, lightly sift powdered sugar over top of cake.
