Ingredients
- ½ cup Roasted Red Pepper, Sliced
- 1 Tbsp Finely Chopped Olives
- 2 Tsp Oil
- 2 Tsp Freshly Snipped Thyme (or ½ Tsp dried)
- ¼ Tsp Black Pepper
- ¼ cup Finely Chopped Onion
- 2 Tbsp Bread Crumbs
- 2 Tbsp Ketchup
- 1 Tbsp Horseradish Paste
- 1 Tbsp Mustard
- ¼ Tsp Salt
- ¼ Tsp Pepper
- 1 lb Ground Beef
- 4 Slices Smoked Mozzarella Cheese (or Not smoked; preference)
- 4 Hamburger Buns, Cut Open and Toasted Lightly
- Fresh Basil Leaves
How to Make It
- Prepare your grill (gas or charcoal) to a good medium-hot heat. The coals are ready when they have a layer of gray ash on them.
- Place the olives, pepper strips, thyme, oil and ¼ tsp of black pepper into a food processor, stir a little then pulse. Be careful not to liquidize, just chop. Cover and place in the refrigerator to chill until serving time.
- Mix together, the horseradish, onions, ketchup, bread crumbs, mustard, salt, and the remaining ¼ tsp. pepper in a bowl. Add the meat and mix in until combined. Divide the mix into 4 (¾” patties).
- Place the patties onto a greased grill rack and cook for roughly 18 minutes or until the internal temperature is 160°F. Always remember to turn once only halfway through cooking. Just before you remove the patties, top each with a slice of cheese so that it can melt.
- Serve each patty on a toasted bun with fresh basil and 1 tbsp. of red sweet pepper relish.
