Voyeurism

Peeping; one of the paraphilias, characterized by marked distress over, or acting on, urges to observe unsuspecting people, usually strangers, who are naked or in the process of disrobing or who are engaging in sexual activity.

Sexually motivated and often compulsive interest in watching or looking at others, particularly at genitals. A “Peeping Tom” represents a pathological expression of voyeurism.

A sexual variance characterized by a person gaining sexual pleasure from viewing nudes.

A condition in which a person experiences sexual pleasure by watching others having intercourse.

Disorder in which sexual excitement and gratification are obtained from viewing the naked bodies of others, especially the genitalia, and from watching the sexual acts of others.

A mental illness characterized by seeking and watching unsuspecting people undress, become naked, or engage in sexual activity. Also known as peeping, voyeurism serves as a way for the person with the disorder to become sexually excited. He or she may masturbate while watching or later while engaging in a fantasy about what has been seen. In extreme form, voyeurism becomes the person’s only sexual activity. Voyeurism usually begins before age 15, lasts at least 6 months, and is much more common in males than females. Voyeurism tends to continue through-out life.

The condition of obtaining sexual pleasure by watching other people undressing or enjoying sexual relations.

The regular viewing of people who are naked or part-naked or who are taking part in intimate sexual activities. The voyeur’s subjects are unaware that they are being watched. The voyeur, nearly always a man, usually becomes sexually excited and may induce orgasm by masturbation.

The experiencing of sexual gratification by observing nude persons or the sexual activity of others.
