Virilescence

The development of male-associated characteristics, like facial hair growth or a deepening of the voice, in certain women after menopause is referred to as virilization. This transformation of traits typically linked with males can also be observed in certain endocrine disorders, such as Cushing’s syndrome.


Some women, after menopause, may develop traits typically associated with males, like a beard or a deeper voice. This development of masculine characteristics can happen in certain hormonal disorders, such as Cushing’s syndrome.
