Height of the mandible in the midsagittal plane measured from the inferior border of the edentulous mandible to the top of the crest of the alveolar ridge. This measurement may also be made on a panoramic radiograph. For the maxilla, a superior landmark is defined and the height is measured from there to the crest of the residual ridge.
