Valence

In expectancy theory of motivation, the perceived attractiveness of an outcome.

Relative capacity of atoms to combine electrically with others; in immunology, refers to the capacity to unite with or react to various antigens or biological substrates.

The property of an atom or group of atoms causing them to combine in definite proportion with other atoms or groups of atoms. Valency may be as high as 8 and is determined by the number of electrons in the outer orbit of the atom.

The outermost orbit of an atom, known as the valence shell, plays a pivotal role in determining the atom’s capacity to combine with other atoms. It governs the atom’s ability to form chemical bonds and engage in interactions with neighboring atoms.
