A technique used in plastic surgery to repair a skin defect or to lengthen a scar as to release tension. A V-shaped incision is made, and the tissue at the apex of the V is placed on tension and advanced to create a straight limb of Y-shaped defect. The edges of the new wound are then sutured so that a Y-shaped scar is now produced.
