Blue discoloration of the urine; possibly due to the presence of indigo blue from oxidation of indican or to ingestion of drugs such as methylene blue.
The blue tint in urine, typically due to an excess of indican—a glucoside that, when oxidized, becomes indigo blue. This condition is also known as indicanuria.
