A lamp which gives off ultraviolet rays.
A lamp that produces light with a wavelength in the range of 180 to 400 nm. It is used to treat certain skin conditions such as psoriasis or T-cell lymphoma, to promote wound healing by destroying bacteria, and to tan the skin. Ultraviolet lamps produce light within specific ranges: ultra violet-A (UV-A) lamps generate light having a wavelength of 320 to 400 nm; ultraviolet-B (UV-B) produces light in the range of 290 to 320 nm; ultraviolet-C (UV-C) has a wavelength of 180 to 290 nm.
