Tremor control therapy

A technique employed to manage tremors by delivering self-administered electrical shocks to the specific region of the brain responsible for voluntary movement, known as the thalamus. The procedure involves implanting an electrode, connected to an insulated lead wire, into the brain. Additionally, a power source battery is implanted beneath the chest skin, with an extension wire tunneled under the skin to establish a connection between the battery and the lead. By activating the power source, the patient initiates the delivery of electrical impulses, effectively disrupting the tremor.
