Transvestism

Sexual pleasure derived from dressing or masquerading in the clothing of the opposite sex, with the strong wish to appear as a member of the opposite sex. The sexual origins of transvestism may be unconscious.


A sexual variance characterized by emotional and/or sexual gratification derived from dressing in clothes of the opposite sex. It is usually not accompanied by a homosexual preference, transvestite.


The condition of liking to dress and behave as a member of the opposite sex.


Dressing in the clothing of the opposite sex as a way of becoming sexually excited, known popularly as “cross-dressing.” The disorder occurs primarily among men who are generally heterosexual but may have had occasional homosexual encounters.

Persistent inclination in a man to don women’s attire, commonly referred to as crossdressing, encompasses a spectrum. This spectrum extends from sporadic donning of female undergarments to openly wearing female clothing in public, often engaging with the transvestite subculture. The majority of transvestites identify as heterosexual, and many maintain a romantic relationship with a female partner who understands and acknowledges the cross-dressing behavior, accommodating it as a distinctive requirement.


The act of dressing in clothing typically worn by the opposite gender.
