Trans fat (also known as partially hydrogenated vegetable oils)

A type of processed fat, also called hydrogenated or partially hydrogenated fat or oil. Unlike other dietary fats, trans fats are not essential, and they do not promote good health.

Dietary fats that are extremely harmful to cognitive function.

Generally vegetable oils that have been chemically modified to make them solid through a process called partial hydrogenation.

Through the exertion of great pressure on vegetable fats by means of hydrogen gas, a synthetic form of lipids has been produced. This artificial fat has the inadvertent consequence of generating trans unsaturated fatty acids, which are deemed to be unhealthy. In spite of its negative health effects, food manufacturers prefer this lipid due to its longevity and low production cost.
