Tonsillar crypt

A deep indentation, lined with stratified squamous epithelium, into the lymphatic tissue of a lingual or palatine tonsil.


The tiny cavities in the tonsil that can occasionally become clogged with a cheese-like substance, visible as white spots upon examination of the tonsil. This cheesy material mainly consists of debris, bacteria, and food particles.
