Tolerable upper intake levels

The values that are considered standard to indicate the upper limit of a nutrient’s daily intake, which is deemed to be safe for individuals in good health, are what we refer to as safe upper limits.


The maximum daily intake level of a nutrient that is unlikely to result in negative health effects for the majority of individuals in the general population, as determined by the U.S. Institute of Medicine.
