Tinea favosa

Fungal infection characterized by dry, sulfur-yellow, cup-like crusts on the scalp called scutula.

Ringworm that affects the groin area, including around the anus and vagina, is highly contagious and can be challenging to eliminate, especially in communal living environments. It often occurs alongside athlete’s foot and is uncommon in women, except in warmer climates. The infection can be transmitted through floors of shower stalls, duckboards, bath mats, potentially toilet seats, towels, and shared clothing. It is also known as gym itch, jockey itch, or dhobie itch.
