Tauopathies

A class of neurodegenerative diseases resulting from the pathological aggregation of tau protein in the neurofibrillary tangles of the human brain. Examples of tauopathies include frontotemporal dementia, alzheimer’s disease, progressive supranuclear palsy, corticobasal ganglionic degeneration, and frontotemporal lobar degeneration (also known as pick’s disease). Compare with synucleinopathies.
