Takayasu’s syndrome

Also known as Takayasu’s arteritis, this condition involves the inflammation and gradual blockage of arteries that stem from the aorta. The exact cause is not known, and the disorder is seldom diagnosed outside of Asian countries like Japan. A defining feature is the absence of a pulse in the arms or neck, along with elevated blood pressure. Symptoms like facial muscle paralysis and episodes of fainting can occur, often due to minor strokes.
