An infection of hair follicles on the sides of the face and chin.
A chronic staphylococcal folliculitis (infection of the hair follicles with staphylococci bacteria) of the beard area in males, causing a papulo pustular inflammation clearly centred on hair follicles. It must be distinguished from ringworm infection of the face and hair follicles (tinea barbae) and from pseudo-folliculitis due to ingrowing hairs. Topical and oral anti-staphyloccoccal antibiotics are effective.
Sycosis of the beard marked by papules and pustules perforated by hairs and surrounded by infiltrated skin.
Inflammation of the facial hair region, this condition arises from infection of the hair follicles, typically by STAPHYLOCOCCUS AUREUS bacteria transmitted through razors or towels. Pus-filled blisters develop around the follicles. Usual treatment involves administering antibiotic medications.
