Sweet cicely

Sugar-saver. Sweet, anise-scented leaves and stalks (fresh or dried) adds delightful flavour to sweets and desserts, saving about half the sugar. Of particular interest to diabetics.


This is an herb that is a member of the parsley family and is utilized to season a range of food and beverage items, such as the liqueur Chartreuse. The oil derived from its seeds is believed to have a preserving effect on flavor. Despite being unrelated to the myrrh-producing tree, it is occasionally referred to as myrrh due to its similar aroma.


In Europe, there exists an aromatic herb bearing a striking resemblance to parsley and known for its sweet, aniseed-like flavor. This herb, found growing abundantly in the wild across the continent, goes by the name of chervil. Its distinctive taste adds a delightful touch to culinary creations, making it a prized ingredient in European cuisine.
