Swan-ganz catheter

A special catheter which can be floated through the right chamber of the heart into the pulmonary artery. The balloon at its tip is then inflated to measure arterial pressure.


A flexible catheter inserted into the pulmonary artery of patients in shock; used for hemodynamic monitoring.


A soft, flexible catheter that is inserted into the pulmonary artery of patients in shock or acute pulmonary edema to determine intracardiac pressures, oxygen saturation, and other hemodynamic parameters.
