Suggestion

The process of influencing a patient to accept an idea, a belief, or an attitude suggested by the therapist.


An idea which has been mentioned.


The process of making a person’s ideas change, by suggesting different ideas which the person can accept, such as that he or she is in fact cured.


The process of changing a person’s beliefs, attitudes, or emotions by telling him that they will change. It is sometimes used as a synonym for hypnosis.


The imparting of an idea indirectly; the act of implying.


The synthetic induction of a psychic condition in which an individual perceives sensations as guided by suggestions or ceases to perceive sensations that they have been instructed not to feel; the suggested phenomenon.
