Spindle

A fibrous-appearing structure associated with the chromosomes in mitosis.

A long thin structure.

A structure formed in cells during division to which the chromosomes are attached by their centromeres.

Collection of fibers seen in a dividing cell that function in chromosome movement in mitosis and meiosis. The fibers radiate from two poles and meet in the middle at the equator.

A collection of fibers seen in a cell when it is dividing. The fibers radiate from the two ends (poles) and meet at the center (the equator) giving a structure shaped like two cones placed base to base. It plays an important part in chromosome movement in mitosis and ‘meiosis and is also involved in division of the cytoplasm.
