Concept of distance, direction, and positions of objects in space.
The ability to understand one s position in space and the relationship between the self and objects nearby, one aspect being form constancy, the ability to recognize an object or shape, regardless of what position or angle it is viewed from. A child with learning disabilities or some other kinds of developmental disorders may, for example, be unable to recognize a toy or shape when it is placed in a different position (such as upside down) or fail to recognize a familiar object when it appears in a picture, rather than in three-dimensional form. Spatial orientation is closely linked to both motor skills and visual skills.
