The administration within HEW which manages welfare and related programs including Medicaid, which is the responsibility of SRS’s Medical Services Administration. Since SRS is not under the direction of HEW’s Assistant Secretary for Health, this means that Medicaid is administered separately from the Department’s other health programs.
