Magazines addressed to readers who are essentially skeptical about claims for scientific validity. The Skeptic, The Skeptical Inquirer, and Free Inquiry are just three of the several English language skeptical magazines.
The Skeptic, published in Altadena, California, is the quarterly magazine of the skeptics society, published since 1993 under the editorship of Michael Shermer, who is also director and CEO of the society. To quote its own explanatory subheading: “. . . devoted to the investigation of extraordinary claims and revolutionary ideas and the promotion of science and critical thinking.” The contents of a recent issue included such articles as “Teller about ghosts” and “The question all skeptics are asking: Can a cat be simultaneously alive and dead?” and contained letters such as “Pseudoscience kills” and “Loch Ness photo proof.” The purpose of the magazine is primarily to expose and attack what it sees as fraud and irrationality, but, in fairness, it also opens its columns to those it is attacking. Some issues contain an extended debate with articles pro and con some topic in science/pseudoscience.
