Shoot

An elongating stem, usually near the apex of the plant and sometimes used for the main axis;


(In sympodial orchids) a continuation of the rhizome.


A new growth, such as a sprout or twig.


To seem to move suddenly through the body with a piercing feeling.


Any aerial part of a plant that bears leaves, though in normal usage a shoot is an actively elongating stem or branch.
