Serum hepatitis

An acute infection of the liver caused by a virus. Transmitted by contaminated blood during transfusion, medical instruments, or drug abusers using contaminated equipment. Characterization and symptoms similar to infectious hepatitis.


A serious form of hepatitis transmitted by infected blood, unsterilised surgical instruments, shared needles or sexual intercourse.


A viral infection of the liver caused by transmission of the virus through a blood transfusion, an intravenous injection, or other access to the blood stream.


Term previously used for hepatitis B virus infection.
