Retinol

A form of vitamin A.

A vitamin found in liver, vegetables, eggs and cod liver oil which is essential for good vision.

One of the active forms of vitamin A; it is stored in the body primarily in the liver and in adipose tissue. Sources of this 20-carbon alcohol include liver, egg yolk, chicken, whole milk, butter, and fortified breakfast cereal. Vitamin A activity in foods is expressed as retinol equivalents (RE), the resulting amount of retinol after conversion in the body.
