Retinitis

Inflammation of the retina, the innermost part of the eye.

Inflammation of the retina. In practice, the term is often used for conditions not strictly inflammatory; for example retinitis pigmentosa, a non-inflammatory hereditary condition involving progressive degeneration of the retina. For such conditions the term retinopathy is becoming more widely used.

Symptoms include diminished vision, contractions of fields or scotomata, alteration in the apparent size of objects, and photophobia.

Inflammation impacting the retina, which is the light-sensitive inner layer located at the rear of the eye.
