Is a phytoalexin produced naturally by several plants when under attack by pathogens such as bacteria or fungi. It is a potent antioxidant found in red grapes and other plants.
Also known as 3,5,4 trihydroxy stilbene, it is a phytochemical that is produced by certain plants in response to “wounding” (e.g., by fungal growth on plant) or other stress. Plants that produce resveratrol include red grapes, mulberries, soybeans, and peanuts. Resveratrol inhibits cell mutations, stimulates at least one enzyme that can inactivate certain carcinogens, and (when consumed by humans) contributes to a low incidence of cardiovascular disease.
A plant-derived polyphenol that is structurally related to diethylstilbestrol. It is found in grapes and wine, and is believed to have antioxidant effects.
