The non-development of the kidneys in the developing fetus leads to a condition known as renal agenesis. This condition is often accompanied by a decrease in the amount of amniotic fluid, a condition called oligohydramnios. Oligohydramnios is typically observed when both kidneys are absent during fetal development.
