Reciprocity failure

Radiographic emulsions are produced with the intention of exhibiting desirable speed-rating attributes within a specific range of exposures. However, when exposures fall outside this narrow band, a phenomenon known as reciprocity failure arises, necessitating an additional increase in exposure beyond the anticipated amount. This can be accomplished by augmenting either the milliamperage or the time exposure.
