Quail

The avian game creature, found in both the ancient realms and the contemporary lands, encompasses the familiar quail species inhabiting Europe, notably ensnared in the Mediterranean vicinity during its migratory expedition from Africa. The prominence of this bird has diminished to such an extent in the confines of Great Britain that it is now granted protection as a treasured species. While endeavors to introduce the common quail to North America have proven unsuccessful, several kindred native species exist. Predominantly widespread is the bobwhite quail, extending its domain from the Gulf of Mexico and the eastern shores of the United States, reaching as far north as Wisconsin and the periphery of the Great Lakes. The western and southwestern regions of the United States host diverse quail species, including the scaled, California, Gambel’s, mountain, and harlequin quails. Furthermore, quails are actively cultivated on specialized game farms.
