Progressive supranuclear palsy

A degenerative disease of the central nervous system (CNS) characterized by balance difficulties and the inability to aim the eyes. Patients often show mood alteration, depression, apathy, and progressive mild dementia. Also known as steele-richardson-olszewski syndrome.

A progressive neurological disorder characterized by neurodegenerative changes of the basal ganglia and the brain stem; symptoms include balance difficulties, sudden falls, rigidity, bradykinesia, myoclonus, slurred speech, swallowing difficulties, and impaired ability to perform voluntary eye movements.

A chronic progressive degenerative disease of the central nervous system that has its onset in middle age. Conjugate ocular palsies, dystonia of the neck, and widespread rigidity occur.

A rare disorder that progressively damages nerve cells in specific areas of the brain responsible for regulating eye movements, breathing, and muscle coordination. This neuronal loss leads to a gradual and worsening palsy or paralysis as the disease advances. The paralysis affects the ability to control eye movements, muscular relaxation, and maintain balance.
