Perleche

An inflammatory process at the corners of the mouth. More commonly known as angular cheilitis. Often caused by fungal or bacterial infection and can be concomitant with decreased occlusal vertical dimension.


Inflammation, with small cracks, at the corners of the mouth, caused by infection, poor diet, or producing too much saliva.


Dryness and cracking of the corners of the mouth, sometimes with infection. Perleche may be caused by persistent lip licking or by a vitamin-deficient diet.


A disorder marked by fissures and epithelial desquamation at the comers of the mouth, especially seen in children. The condition may be due to oral candidiasis or may be a symptom of dietary deficiency, especially riboflavin deficiency.
