A term referring to schizophrenia in an older adult.
A dated term for a mental disorder involving delusions without severe personality deterioration.
A mental disorder characterized by systematic delusions and prominent hallucinations but without any other marked symptoms of mental illness. The only loss of contact with reality is in areas affected by the delusions and hallucinations. It is typically seen in the elderly and deaf. Some sufferers, if followed up over a period of years, eventually show other symptoms of schizophrenia. It is therefore debatable whether paraphrenia constitutes a separate entity.
