    Fat cells are storage sites for energy. This type of cell shrinks and enlarges depending on the amount of excess calories (energy) in storage.

    Muscle fiber contracts quickly and strongly. It is recruited and developed mainly in short-burst anaerobic activities such as sprinting and weight training.

    Exercise addiction is a chronic loss of perspective on the role of exercise in a full life.  

  • Environmental dimension

    The dimension of wellness that deals with the preservation of natural resources and the protection of plant and animal wildlife, as well as the defining of one’s relationship with the environment. Practicing recycling shows evidence of environmental wellness.  

  • Emotional dimension

    The dimension of wellness that deals with the ability to control or cope with the vast array of human feelings/emotions. Adjusting to life’s ongoing changes is one sign of emotional wellness.  

  • Dynamic (isotonic) exercise

    Dynamic (isotonic) exercise is exercise in which the muscle contracts, and shortens and movement occurs, such as push-ups or weight lifting.  

  • Dynamic flexibility

    Dynamic flexibility is the range of motion achieved by quickly moving a limb to its limits as in a bouncing hamstring stretch.  

  • Date rape drugs

    Date rape drugs are used to cause women to become overly relaxed or pass out and yield unknowingly in a sexual way. These drugs are depressants and includes GHB, Rohypnol, and ketamine.  

  • Daily uplifts

    The counterpart to daily hassles. These are positive events that make us feel good. Examples are payday; being visited, phoned, or sent a letter; being complimented; and having fun with a friend.  

  • Daily hassles

    The events or interactions in daily life that are bothersome, annoying, or negative in some way. Examples are losing things, having too many things to do, and filling out paperwork.
