  • Trial flask closure

    Preliminary closure of a dental prosthesis processing flask that ensures that the mold is completely filled with finishing material and allows excess material to be eliminated.  

  • Trial‐fit gauge (syn)

    Implant try‐in. Replica or near replica of the body of a specific dental implant configuration used for testing the size of the osteotomy.  

  • Trial denture

    Placement of teeth, usually in wax, to evaluate the proposed maxillomandibular relationships, esthetics, and function of the prosthesis.  

  • Trial base

    A device or material that represents the base of a removable dental prosthesis and usually has an attached wax rim. Used to record the maxillomandibular relationship for the purpose of setting denture teeth in their proper functional and esthetic location.

    Organization and sequencing of treatment procedures and providers (e.g., surgeons, prosthodontists) following patient diagnosis.  

  • Treatment plan

    The sequence of procedures planned for the treatment of a patient after diagnosis. A therapeutic strategy that may incorporate patient education, dietary adjustment, an exercise program, drug therapy, and the participation of nursing and allied health professionals. Treatment plans are especially important in the optimal management of complex or chronic illnesses.  

  • Treatment denture

    A temporary dental prosthesis used to support and retain tissue during the healing phase in preparation for construction of the definitive prosthesis.
