  • Rest vertical dimension

The vertical dimension of two designated points on the face when the mandible is in its postural position.

  • Occlusal vertical dimension

The vertical dimension of two designated points on the face when the teeth are in contact in centric occlusion.

  • Vertical dimension of occlusion (VDO)

Measurement between facial reference marks when the teeth or wax occlusion rims are in contact.

  • Vertical dimension increase

An obsolete term for a change in the teeth, denture base, soft tissue, or bony tissue that increases the distance between the maxillary and mandibular dental arches while in occlusion.

  • Vertical dimension decrease

An obsolete term for a change in the teeth, denture base, soft tissue, or bony tissue that brings the maxillary and mandibular dental arches closer together while in occlusion.

  • Vertical dimension

Available distance between the incisal and/or occlusal surfaces of the teeth or trial wax occlusion rims during directed acts of speech. Called also speaking space.

  • Vertical bone height

Height of the mandible in the midsagittal plane measured from the inferior border of the edentulous mandible to the top of the crest of the alveolar ridge. This measurement may also be made on a panoramic radiograph. For the maxilla, a superior landmark is defined and the height is measured from there to the crest…

  • Vertical alveolar distraction

Alveolar distraction in an apicocoronal direction.

  • Vertex

The smallest component of a polygon model. It is simply a point in 3D space. By connecting multiple vertices together, a 3D polygon model can be created. These points can be manipulated to create the desired shape. Top of the head. The top of the head.

  • Verification jig (syn)

Confirmation jig. An index of multiple implants fabricated on the master cast and tried in the mouth to check the accuracy of the master cast. If the jig does not fit in the mouth, it is cut and reconnected. A new cast or an alteration of the master cast is then made from the reconnected…
