  • Fibrates

    Hypolipidemic agents primarily used for decreasing serum triglycerides, while increasing High density lipoprotein (HDL). A group of carboxylic acid compounds with hydrophobic and hydrophilic domains. They are used clinically to lower serum lipid levels, especially elevated triglyceride levels.   • Fetotoxic

    Toxic to the fetus. Poisonous to the fetus. Materials considered potentially fetotoxic include alcohol, morphine, cocaine, salicylates, coumarin anticoagulants, sedatives, tetracyclines, thiazides, tobacco smoke, and large doses of vitamin K.  

  • Febrile

    Pertaining to or characterized by fever.       Pert, to or characterized by an elevated body temperature (fever). The term ‘febrile’ refers to conditions associated with fever. For instance, febrile convulsions primarily occur in young children experiencing high body temperatures.  

  • Febrifuge

    An agent that reduces fever. Also called an antipyretic. Substance that reduces fever. A medicine used to decrease body temperature or fever. An herb which helps to dispel fever. A drug tending to reduce fever. Agent that combats fever. A drug which prevents or lowers a fever, e.g. aspirin.
