Lying flat for its whole length (e.g. hairs on leaf surface). Pressed close to another organ, usually refers to hairs when pressed close to stem or leaves or fruits held close to the stem, as in many species of the Cabbage family. Bent forward and pressing closely against the surface from which they arise.
