  • Blood transfer

    The act of transmitting blood from one person to another. A concept significant in regard to AIDS with reference to the sharing of needles.

    A small, colorless cell about the size of a red blood corpuscle. A small blood cell which releases thromboplastin and which multiplies rapidly after an injury, encouraging the coagulation of blood.

    The placenta excludes ransfer of water-soluble substances to the fetus. Most lipid-soluble drugs and many water-soluble drugs will transfer to the fetal blood and may result in damage to the fetus.
